AAR - Eclipse Company vs Kingdom of Denmark and Prussian Empire

"The Argo may have been destroyed by the Black Company, but its legacy remained - the debris from the wreck had spread over a large area in the time since the attack. From these pieces, Prussian fleet commander Karl-Ehrhart Grunner reasoned, some rather valuable technology or information could be secured.

Grunner despatched his best hunter, commander Jürgen Grönemeyer, and his recently refitted Sturmbringer-class Submarine with a small fleet of fast ships to track down the pieces of the Argo and  recover anything valuable. The Wolf Pack rendezvoused with a Danish patrol out of Daneborg some days later.

Tracking some interesting readings, the Prussian scientists attached to Grönemeyer's fleet directed them south of Nanortalik, an area rarely travelled by Prussian fleets due to the iceberg floes prevalent in the spring months. There, they discovered more than just the remains of the Argo..."

AAR - Black Wolf Mercenaries versus Prussian Empire

"Following the destruction of the Argo, Prussian and Danish forces out of Greenland began their campaign of raids and piracy across the northern Atlantic with impunity. Prussian fleet commander Karl-Ehrhart Grunner sent word to the Prussian naval command; hunting season was back on, but they needed reinforcements.

Pleased with the destruction of the Argo but cautious of Grunner's use of mercenaries - especially the notoriously violent and unpredictable Black Company - the Prussian naval command sent Konteradmiral von Monts and the grand Dreadnought Sachsen to "assist" Grunner with his handling of the Greenland theatre.

As the Prussian fleet passed the southernmost point of Greenland, Kap Farval, they found an unpleasant surprise waiting for them..."

Running the Australians

PLAYING WITH THE COMMONWEALTH OF FREE AUSTRALIA AND THE DOMINION OF ROYAL AUSTRALIA - Part One

As discussed in the previous article, the Australian Naval Battle Group brings two fleets to the Dystopian theatre; allies of the Grand Coalition the Royal Australians and the mercenary Free Australians. In this article, I will discuss some of the great rules and units these fleets bring to the table, the ships and weapon systems they share, and the technologies that mark them apart.

Fightin' Around the World

THE DOMINION OF ROYAL AUSTRALIA AND THE COMMONWEALTH OF FREE AUSTRALIA

Makin' Movies, Makin' Songs and Fightin' Around the World!
A sucker for all things Australian, I invested in the excellent Australian Naval Battle Group as soon as it was released. 1000pts of ships in one box, with multiple turrets and generator configurations, this was a great way for me to pick up some Mercenary allies for my Prussian fleet in the form of the Commonwealth of Free Australia and finally start a Grand Coalition Fleet with the Royal Australians, a Dominion of the Kingdom of Britannia.

State of the Nations

A QUICK WORD ON WHERE I AM WITH MY PAINTING AND GAMING

As we reach the end of the first quarter of 2014 I've had a quick look over my Dystopian Wars collection - those fleets finished, those in progress and those still sitting in their boxes. The end of 2013 and the first two months of this year have seen my production line move as fast as ever, but what's next?

Metzger Is Always Watching

THE METZGER AUSF. B-CLASS ROBOT

The Big Guy himself, the Metzger is one of the most iconic units in Dystopian Wars. Even wargamers who don't like the aesthetic or setting of Dystopian Wars agree; the Metzger looks fantastic. In this post, I will take a closer look at the recently updated Metzger (the Ausf. B-class) and discuss it's place in the fleets of the Prussian Empire.

Rule The Skies

PAINTING AND USING TINY FLYER TOKENS

FSA Tiny Flyer Tokens
An integral part of your fleet whether it be Land, Sea or Air, the Tiny Flyer Tokens (TFTs) are often an overlooked aspect of the Dystopian Wars game. In this post, I will show off some of the tokens I have painted for various fleets and discuss my preferences in choosing colour schemes, the model designs and the different types of token.

A Slightly Darker Shade of Black

PAINTING THE BLACK WOLF MERCENARIES

In this entry, I will discuss some of the colours and choices made when painting up my Black Wolf Mercenaries, how to avoid a "cartoonish" colour scheme and how painting black doesn't have to be boring.
