Building Momentum

THE RUSSIAN NAVY CONTINUES TO EXPAND WITH THE NEW DUDINKA-CLASS ASSAULT CARRIER AND ROSTOV-CLASS DESTROYER

Another week, and work on the Russian Coalition continues. This time, we see the new Dudinka-class Assault Carrier and a Rostov-class Destroyer join the burgeoning flotilla, packing some serious fore-mounted firepower and also Heavy Mortars and carrier capacity. Like all Russian vessels they are both lacking in subtlety, but make up for it with sheer volume of ordnance and crew.

The Dudinka is a huge vessel, covered in the same amount of detail as all Russian ships. It took a long time to paint and highlight all those armour plates!
As befits a vessel of this size and importance, extra effort was put into painting areas like the decking
A Generator sits at the aft of the vessel, and was painted in a similar manner to the Generators on some of my other fleets
The tiny flyers on the deck were painted white, to give a similar "contrast" as the white turrets on the other ships in the fleet. For the actual squadrons of Bombers and Fighter Planes, I intend to paint them in whites and blues
The three new designs for the Russian Coalition that appeared with their new Naval Battle Group
The Rostov is a powerful vessel for its size, and packs some of the only Range Band 4 gunnery in the entire fleet!
The fore-mounted gun dominates the bow of the ship
Without the layers of Ablative Armour, the smaller vessels in the fleet are far quicker to paint
The fleet grows!
So the fleet so far... rather monochromatic, no doubt! Perhaps a little dull for some people, but I like the realistic look of the fleet and having a drab scheme complements this in my eyes. Colour will appear as different classes are added to roster, as well as more tiny flyers and perhaps allies in the form of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

Next up... the mighty Borodino-class Battleship

Thanks for reading,

George

  1. Yeaaah I guess that one is for me.^^
I'm not sure about it but sorry if I upset you. That's your fleet and the important is that it pleases you.

Great job on those one anyway, especially on the deck wooden floor, it was worth the effort. ;)
    Cheers,

  2. Not upset at all! Valid comment that they are very, very grey. More colour will appear in the fleet when the other tiny flyers are painted, as well as some of the other ship designs and allies.

Thanks for the comments about the decking, very happy with that.
